Chandigarh: Odd even closure of specific markets announced

Chandigarh, August 7, 2020: At the Daily War Room Meeting held at Punjab Raj Bhavan and presided over by the Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, VP Singh Badnore it was today announced that certain markets will follow the odd-even formula, some will be closed on Sundays, specific shops will be closed for a few days, while Sukhna Lake will continue to be closed over the weekends.
The Administrator passed the following orders on congested markets on the basis of the recommendations received from the Committee headed by Finance Secretary to contain spread of infection:
* Odd-even system in following markets will be introduced from August 8 for next six days :
i. Krishna Market, Sector 41
ii. Market area near old PNB Bank/Bihari Garment, Burail Chowk
iii. Shastri Market, Sector 22
iv. Patel Market, Sector 15
v. Sector 8 Internal Market
vi. Azad Market, Sector 20
vii. Palace Market, Sector 20
viii.Booth Market, Sector 21
ix. Palika Bazar, Sector 19
x. Sadar Market, Sector 19
xi. Janta Market, Sector 27
* The Scooter Repair Market in Sector 43, Chandigarh will remain closed on all Sundays
* The following shops of Mobile Market in Sector 22 will remain closed for next six days :-
1.SCO 1010-11- Radha Market
2. SCO 1030-31- Attari Market
3. SCO 1004- Sweety Market
4. SCO 1003-04
These decisions will be reviewed every week.
The Sub-Divisional Magistrates will coordinate with Markets Associations for smooth functiog and strict enforcement of these orders.
Meaanwhile it was also decided that the weekend closure of Sukhna Lake will continue.
Earlier in the Meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 445 active cases; whereas in Panchkula there are 357 active cases. In Chandigarh there are 530 Active Cases ( Please also see Page 4).
Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have 121 Covid patients, out of which 46 belong to Chandigarh, 47 from Punjab, 9 from Haryana, 6 from Himachal Pradesh, 9 from Uttar Pradesh, 2 from Rajasthan and 1 each from Jharkhand & Bihar.
He also stated that they have tested 720 covid samples, out of which 40 belonging to Chandigarh were found positive.
Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they tested 355 covid samples, out of which 38 were found positive.
Among the positive cases, 21 belonged to Chandigarh, 12 each from Haryana and Punjab and remaining from other states.
He also stated that there were 188 patients in Sood Dharamshala, 54 in Dhanwantari College, 41in GMCH and 32 in Sector 48 Hospital.
