Consumer Affairs Department imposed fine of Rs. 15,34,000 on 472 shopkeepers for overpricing of masks and hand sanitizer

Chandigarh, July 16, 2020: Legal Metrology wing of Punjab Consumer Affairs Department has conducted state wide checking drive. A total of1806 Shops & Chemist Shops have been checked throughout the state. Out of these, 472 establishments have been found indulging in malpractices. The department imposed penalty worth rupees 15,34,000 on them.

This was disclosed today by a spokesperson of the Consumer Affairs and Civil Supplies Department.

Spokesperson further said that the department has received 17 complaints regrading various malpractices in sale of goods. A swift action was taken to stop such nefarious activities.
