Faculty Development Programme concludes at Panjab University

Chandigarh, August 10, 2020: The TEQIP-III sponsored one-week Online Faculty Development Program jointly organized by the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, UIET, Panjab University, Chandigarh and Govt College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu on “Emerging Trends in Electronics and Communication (ETEC-2020)” concluded recently.
The programme was inaugurated by Prof Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Prof Savita Gupta, Director, UIET and Dr Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET, Jammu always motivate their faculty members to organise such events under twinning activities under TEQIP-III.
Prof. Savita Gupta informed that the aim of this FDP was to empower faculty with technical skills to enhance the content delivery and bring in transformations in the teaching learning process.
Fourteen experts from IITs/ NITs/ other premier institutes across India gave very informative talks.
The last day of the course witnessed expert lectures from Prof Manav Bhatnagar of IIT Delhi on 5G wireless communications and future wireless communications, their challenges in implementation.
Another expert talk was delivered by Dr Surender Singh Saini on the role of research and development in commercialization of technologies.
He gave examples of opportunities in commercialization of technologies during this pandemic of COVID-19.
The last session was delivered by Prof. Ravibabu of IIT Ropar on image processing citing examples from the medical field.
Participants appreciated the speakers and congratulated organiser for successful completion of the event.
Dr. Naresh Kumar, Course Coordinator in his valedictory address stressed on the applicability and utility of learning gained from this one-week FDP and implementing the same in their routine is the need of the hour.
He has also taken the feedback from participants.
Dr. Arvind Kumar, Course Coordinator in his Vote of Thanks during the valedictory ceremony said that the programme had an overwhelming response from the faculty.
He extended his vote of thanks to the Prof Raj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, Panjab University and Prof. Savita Gupta, Director, UIET, Panjab University for giving full assistance in organizing such programs.
Dr. Arvind also thanked Prof. Sunil Agrawal, Coordinator, Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, UIET, PU for his full support.
He thanked Dr. Sameru Sharma, Principal, GCET for supporting twinning activities under TEQIP-III .
Dr. Arvind expressed his gratitude to course coordinators Dr. Naresh Kumar, UIET and Er. Baldev Raj, GCET, Jammu and the whole organising team members Dr. Nidhi Garg, Dr. Charu Madhu, Mr. Vishal Sharma, Dr. Pardeep Kaur, Dr. Gurpreet Kaur and Dr. Roopali Garg for their contribution.
