First course on Research Methodology inaugurated by NINE, PGIMER

Chandigarh, August 19, 2020: “Research is a very important aspect of nursing but not undertaken very frequently by clinical nurses. It is very important to make clinical nurses research friendly so that they can practice research evidences in their day to day practice,” said Prof. AK Gupta, Sub Dean and Medical Superintendent and Head, Department of Hospital Administration, PGIMER, Chandigarh during his inaugural address on the initiation of the 1st course on Research Methodology organised by NINE, PGI, Chandigarh in collaboration with Clinical Nursing Research Society (CNRS) from August 18-23, 2020.
Dr. Karobi Das, Officiating Principal, NINE, PGIMER, Chandigarh welcomed the guests and participants of the course while Dr Sukhpal Kaur, Academic In-charge, Chandigarh and Chairperson introduced the aims and objectives of the Workshop.
She highlighted that to manage complex patient care the need for ongoing research is very important and short courses and workshops will be of great help.
Prof Uma Handa, Advisor CNRS emphasised the role of clinical research in Nursing.
She said that medical science is changing at a very fast rate and to keep pace with it nurses need to undertake research and refine nursing procedures.
Prof Suwersha Khanna, Honorary Patron, CNRS said that nurses need to be trained in nursing research so that not only they undertake research but also utilise the findings of research in their regular practice.
Shashi Bala, President CNRS introduced the Clinical Nursing Research Society to participants and said that the very idea of having this society was to motivate nurses to undertake clinical nursing research and generate evidence to improve patient care.
Dr Sushma Kumari Saini, Organising Secretary of the Workshop thanked all the dignitaries for motivating the candidates and hoped that the candidates would be benefitted from the deliberations of experts and incorporate the learning in their future practice
