Free ration kits handed over to 155 destitute families by philanthropist

Chandigarh, September 9, 2020: Harbhajan Kaur, a well known philanthropist dedicated to the cause of the poor and needy, lent a helping hand to the poor and needy as she handed over free ration kits amounting to Rs.2,00,000 to 155 destitute families of daily wagers here at Community Centre, Sector 46, today.
Harbhajan Kaur, along with her husband Iqbal Singh, handed over ration kits comprising atta, rice, pulses, sugar, oil and spices worth an amount of Rs 1275 each to families of the daily wagers comprising rickshaw pullers, factory workers, maids and servants etc, who have lost their livelihood due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic.
Volunteers from the NGO Shree Shiv Kanwar Maha Sangh Charitable Trust were present, with whose cooperation, the ration kits were distributed smoothly and successfully. .
Earlier in the month of May during lockdown, Harbhajan Kaur supported the needy families by handing over cash of Rs.1,92,000 to 192 destitute families of village Makhan Majra, UT Chandigarh. She gave Rs.1,000 cash to each of the 192 families.
Prior to this, as the Lockdown started in March, Harbhajan Kaur had donated medicines amounting to Rs. 90,000 for the Emergency and Women Ward patients and other medical equipment comprising 5 Stretchers, 5 Wheel Chairs, 1 Trolley amounting to Rs. 60,000 for Govt. Civil Hospital, Sector 45, Chandigarh.
Harbhajan Kaur shared her sentiments and said, “Gurbani teaches us, kirat karo, naam japo and wand ke chhako. I am of the conviction that the Almighty has assigned us some duty to make our lives worthwhile. There will never be scarcity if all of us share His abundant gifts with others. This will give us peace which no material possession can ensure.”
