Homage paid to Indian soldiers on Kargil Vijay Diwas at PU Boys Hostel 3

Chandigarh, July 27, 2020: The Dean Student Welfare Office, Panjab University organised an event yesterday to mark Kargil Vijay Diwas at Boy’s Hostel No. 3.
In his address, Prof. S.K. Tomar, DSW said that Kargil Vijay Diwas is named after the successful Operation Vijay on July 26, 1999.
On this date in 1999, India successfully took command of the high outposts from Pakistan. The Kargil war was fought for more than 60 days and resulted in loss of life on both sides.
Later, homage was paid by lighting candles, to all the soldiers from the Armed Forces who lost their lives during the war . Prof Sweety Tomar recited a poem and Prof Sukhbir Kaur remembered the soldiers.
The event was coordinated by Warden Dr. Sanjeev Gautam andattended by Prof. Sukhbir Kaur DSW (W), Wardens of boys and hostel residents.
