India gets Rafale power

Ambala, September 10, 2020: The Indian Air Force formally induct the Rafale aircraft today at the Air Force Station, Ambala. The aircraft are now part of 17 Squadron, the “Golden Arrows”.
The first five Indian Air Force Rafale aircraft had earlier arrived at the Air Force Station, Ambala from France on 27th July 2020.
Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and Florence Parly Minister of the Armed Forces of France were the Chief Guests.
Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria, Defence Secretary Dr Ajay Kumar, Dr G Satheesh Reddy, Secretary Department of Defence R&D and Chairman DRDO along with other senior officers of Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces were present to mark a very important milestone in the history of the IAF.
The French delegation was represented by Emmanuel Lenain Ambassador of France to India, Air General Eric Autellet, Vice Chief of the Air Staff of the French Air Force and others.
A large delegation of senior functionaries of French Defence Industries which included Eric Trappier, Chairman and Chief Executive of Dassault Aviation and Eric Beranger, CEO, MBDA weree present during the ceremony.
Florence Parly was given a ceremonial Guard of Honour on arrival at Delhi.
At Ambala, the program included a traditional ‘Sarva Dharma Puja’, Air Display by Rafale and Tejas aircraft as well as by ‘Sarang Aerobatic Team’.
Afterwards, a traditional water cannon salute was given to the Rafale aircraft.
The programme will culminated with the ceremonial induction of Rafale aircraft to 17 Squadron.
Rajnath Singh tweeted, “Attended the Rafale Induction Ceremony along with French Defence Minister Ms @florence_parly in Ambala today. Her presence in the ceremony is a reflection of strong India-France defence partnership. The induction of Rafale fighter jets in IAF is a big and momentous occasion for India.
The induction of Rafale is a strong message for the world and especially for those who challenge India’s sovereignty. The induction is a very important step in light of the prevailing security conditions that prevail, or I would say, that have been created along India’s borders.”
But the Tweet of the day was from cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni who tweeted, “ With the Final Induction Ceremony the world’s best combat proven 4.5Gen fighter plane gets the world’s best fighter pilots. In the hands of our pilots and the mix of different aircrafts with the IAF the potent bird’s lethality will only increase.”
Rafale with its multi role capabilities can perform a variety of tasks including Air Superiority missions and precision strikes against enemies.
