India posts highest ever single day recoveries of 56,383

New Delhi/Chandigarh, August 13, 2020: India touched another peak of highest ever single day recoveries of 56,383 in a single day.
With this number, the total recovered COVID-19 patients have touched nearly 17 lakh (16,95,982) today.
The concerted, focussed and collaborative efforts of the Centre and the State/UT governments along with support of lakhs of frontline workers have ensured the successful implementation of Testing aggressively, Tracking comprehensively and Treating efficiently through an array of measures including supervised home isolation and effective clinical management of severe and critical patients through the Standard of Care advised by the Centre.
With the increasing number of recoveries, while the Recovery Rate has crossed 70% (70.77% today), the case mortality among COVID patients has further regressed to 1.96%, and steadily declining.
The record high recoveries have ensured that the actual caseload of the country which is the Active Cases has reduced and currently is only 27.27% of the total positive cases.
The recoveries exceed the active cases (6,53,622) by more than 10 lakh.
Update on Tri-City (as at 7.30 pm):
The Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh, VP Singh Badnore presided over the Daily War Room meeting, whuich was held at Punjab Raj Bhavan today.
Manoj Parida, Adviser stated that 600 beds are available in Hostel No.8, 9 & 10 of Panjab University for taking care of mild and asymptomatic Covid positive cases.
He said that facilities in James Hotel have been requisitioned, where Covid positive patients who can afford to pay the charges can stay and avail Covid Care Centre facilities on payment.
Eden Hospital is also available for Covid treatment in Chandigarh
Badnore directed that additional facilities of 100 beds each exclusively for Chandigarh Covid patients should be created both in PGIMER and GMCH-32.
Deputy Commissioner, Mohali stated that they have 767 active cases, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula informed that they have 372 active cases and Deputy Commissioner, Chandigarh said that they have 700 active cases.
Dr. Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER stated that they have 149 patients in the Covid Care Centre, out of which 57 belonged to Chandigarh, 54 to Punjab, 16 to Haryana, 11 to Himachal Pradesh and remaining to other states.
He stated that they have tested 765 Covid samples, out of which 65 were found positive. Among the positive samples, 37 belong to Chandigarh and 23 belong to Punjab.
Dr. BS Chavan, Director Principal, GMCH stated that they have done testing of 1,229 samples, out of which 122 were found positive.
He said that during the last six days, 125 Covid positive cases were medically treated and discharged.
Dr. G. Dewan, Director Health Services stated that they ha conducted 1,736 tests so far through Rapid Antigen Method. They have also screened 1,000 visitors from outside at the Railway Station and Bus Depots.
The Administrator decided that on Tuesday an interaction meeting will be held with Municipal Councillors through a video conference to seek their views regarding Covid Management in the city.
The Member of Parliament will also be invited to participate in the video conference.
The Administrator appealed to the residents to celebrate the Independence Day Function while maintaining proper social distancing and following hygienic practices during the event.
The Chandigarh Administration has set-up a Help Desk for COVID-19 active patients in Home Isolation. The Help-Desk will have regular interaction with them and assist them for required medical assistance in case of any emergency. The Help Desk will contact each of the COVID Patient in Home-Isolation on daily basis.
Yesterday evening, 233 Covid-19 patients were in Home Isolation. Today each of them has been contacted through phone call by the Help-Desk.
