Massive explosion rips through Beirut killing dozens, injuring many

Beirut/New Delhi, August 5, 2020: Around 100 people were killed and thousands wounded in a massive explosion that shook the Lebanese capital, Beirut on Tuesday.
People in Beirut said the blast felt like an earthquake, while one witness said she had never felt an explosion like it ever in the city.
The blast has been linked to a large supply of confiscated and potentially unsecured explosive material, stored in a warehouse at the city’s port, very close to the populated areas.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed shock and sadness over the large explosion in Beirut city, Lebanon.
The Prime Minister said, “Shocked and saddened by the large explosion in Beirut city leading to loss of life and property. Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and the injured.”
