Phones of top stars seized by NCB

Mumbai, September 27, 2020: There was palpable panic in Bollywood as the phones of A-Lister stars were seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) under the Indian Evidence Act.
Bollywood biggies were reported to be perturbed as to what ‘secrets’ the phones may reveal once they are analysed, as the alleged ‘drug’ chats were made using the same phones, according to NCB officials requesting anonymity.
Meanwhile, NCB chief Rakesh Asthana, along with 3-4 officers, has travelled from Delhi to Mumbai to review the case, according to reports.
Accompanied by Joint Director Sameer Wankhede, Asthana has spoken with the NCB Mumbai team and is allegedly analysing the evidence gathered in the case.
It may be recalled that the NCB questioned Deepika for over five hours on September 26 and Rakul for over four hours on September 25.
Karishma was was questioned for two consecutive days – 25 and 26 September – while Simone was questioned on September 26.
Till now, the NCB has arrested executive producer Kshitij Ravi Prasad in connection to the case. He has been remanded to 7-day NCB custody by a Mumbai court. However, he claims that he ‘is being framed’.
The NCB hasd come into the picture when it started probing the drugs angle in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case.
It has arrested more than 12 people, including actress Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik based on WhatsApp messages between Rhea and others discussing about marijuana and Cannabidiol (CBD), as anlaysed by the ED.
While the siblings have moved the High Court for bail, a special court has extended their judicial custody till October 6.
The NCB has been interrogating KWAN talent manager Jaya Saha based on WhatsApp chats with several celebrities allegedly discussing narcotic substances. It is now probing several top Bollywood actors and actresses too. Other talent management agencies are likely to be investigated
