Rotary Chandigarh Midtown excels in service to humanity

Together, Rotarians across the globe apply their
professional experience and personal commitment
to tackle the communities’ most persistent
problems, finding new, effective ways to enhance
health, stability and prosperity across the world.
.Each day, the members of Rotary Chandigarh
Midtown (RCM) pour their passion, integrity and
intelligence into completing projects that have a
lasting impact for the underprivileged and the
downtrodden. They persevere until they deliver
real, lasting solutions.
No wonder then that RCM has successfully
implemented various projects worth Rs. 1.75
crores in the current Rotary year.
The projects are many. In Project Sankalp,
(Fight against Corona – Covid 19 Pandemic), the
Club did tremendous service and the total value
of goods and service work executed was approximately
Rs.1.3 crores. The Club provided dry
ration/food to about 3 lakh people and provided
Drone Surveillance for Covid affected areas of
Chandigarh for the Chandigarh Police.
One of the focus ares of RCM was Disability
Awareness & Involvement. It was involved in the
UDID Initiative and 8000 differently abled registered
for it. It organised the RYLA Vishesh – a
2N/3D residential program for differently abled/
special children which was attended by 130 children
RCM put into operation the Kalam Express – a
Van fitted with rehab machines that goes to rural
areas in Panchkula district under the supervision
of the Deputy Commissioner and caters to the
rehabilitation of disabled children.
The Club held a large number of awareness
camps/rallies/blood donation camps and ensured
participation of the disabled in different Club
projects
The Club was instrumental in the setting up of
MIYAWAKI Forest Plantations.
To get the youth involved, the Club organised a
Human Chain on Madhya Marg to celebrate 150
years of Mahatma Gandhi with messages of
Swatch Bharat, End TB, End Polio.
It educated the citizens on Road Safety by
spearheading a Road Safety Rally – in which
there were 300 women participants
The Club started a Juvenile Counselling Project
in association with the Social Welfare Department
and High Court of Punjab & Haryana – Yuva Ko
Disha It also held an e Organ Donation Camp
RCM organised a ‘Ride With Pride’ project –
on Uber/ Ola Taxis on Gandhi Jayanti
The Club was instrumental in setting up the
Rotary Diagnostic Lab. This Charitable Rotary
Diagnostic Lab was opened in Sector 2, Panchkula
with a Collection Centre at Sector 26, Chandigarh.
One of the important parts of Rotary internationally
is The Rotary Foundation. Since it was
founded more than 100 years ago, the Foundation
has spent more than $4 billion on life-changing,
sustainable projects all over the world, including
India. RCM contributed Rs. 20,25,000 to the
Rotary Foundation during the year.
According to Salil Dev Bali, President, Rotary
Chandigarh Midtown, “We are fortunate that we
have a very dedicated team and highly committed
members who regularly contribute ideas, their
time and money into unique projects to help society.
They are always focussed on the objectives of
Rotary – to promote peace, fight disease, provide
clean water, sanitation and hygiene, save mothers
and children, support education and grow local
economies.”
