We are all slaves to our monkey mind, which is ever so whimsical and mercurial. It vacillates from one desire to another.
If per chance a desire is fulfilled, we are on Cloud 9. The entire credit is taken by us. But, in case a desire fails to get fulfilled, the mental pendulum moves to the other extreme, leading to depression, sorrow, anger and even violence. That is when He appears to be our greatest enemy.
We perceive an incident singularly, whereas any occurrence or event is just a link in a chain of events which constitute the days, weeks, months and years of our life. Each link in the chain is woven and securely held by the preceding link and pulled by a link ahead.
Similarly, each event has a relevance and its true meaning gradually unfolds as time rolls by. To understand the significance of each event we have to live life patiently.
Each day has a morning followed by an afternoon, then evening and a night. Can we skip any one of them? We have to experience each to transcend to the next and live a day completely and fully.
Some of us are prey to the battle between the bed and the mind every morning. The mind orders the body to get vertical. But the bed pleads not to desert it. Then the daily attractions and distractions weigh heavily in favor of the mind.
Similarly, we all hate Mondays and Saturdays always appear to be very distant, though they are precisely 96 hours apart in clockwise and 24 hours in anti-clockwise direction. But then we live each of those 96 hours and give our best to them to party hard subsequently.
So there is nothing good or bad about any event. Birth is an event and so is death. Just because they happen once in our lifetime, they have so much importance.
But in wider perspective, it is soul changing its attire, since the soul never dies. Arrivals and departures are always occasions of merry making and mourning respectively. And that is harsh reality. Do we stop living?
Surrender to His will. Surrender is total acceptance of what is and what is not. It is living in the now and taking righteous action, hoping for the best and preparing for the worst.
If the outcome is the best, we thank God. And, if the worst happens, we thank Him more, for He only knows what is right. It is His way of shaping our personality, similar to the process of purification of gold. It is His way of saving us from the impending catastrophes and opening new vistas of life. Solace is only in trusting His will.
Non acceptance can cause blunders. EGO (edging God out) raises its ugly head in defiance. It makes the person adopt unethical practices .
With acceptance or surrender to Divine’s will, we experience wonders which we call miracles in daily parlance. The skeptics may address these wonders as coincidences. But coincidence is an event too. And that too a favorable one. It would be too selfish on our part to refrain from giving credit to Divine intervention, which we can only experience and appreciate once we surrender before His will after doing our right karma.
