Villagers of Chandigarh submit their charter of demands to Satya Pal Jain

Chandigarh, August 1, 2020: A delegation of residents and land owners of different villages in Chandigarh met Satya Pal Jain, Ex MP and a Member of the National Executive Committee of the BJP and submitted him a memorandum.
They demanded that Right to Fair Compensation Act, 2013 be implemented in Chandigarh in toto; to denotify the Policy for Land Acquisition through negotiations, which is in conflict with Act, to pay compensation for the acquired land as per the market value of the urban land, to allow change of land use to the farmers; to control the revenue land of 13 villages in Chandigarh on the pattern of Abadi Deh as regulated under Capital of Punjab (Development and Regulation) Act, 1952 and also to implement the resolution passed by Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh on November 22, 2013 in letter and spirits including, conditions mentioned therein by the Members of Municipal Corporation.
The delegation among others told Jain that though the entire land in all the villages in Chandigarh has become urban, but still in the matter of acquisition of land in Dadu Majra and Sarangpur, they have been awarded the compensation for acquisition of land under the Rural Land Rates.
They also said that when villages of Chandigarh were merged in the Municipal Corporation, a resolution was passed by the Municipal Corporation in 2013 laying certain condition for the merger.
But these conditions were removed by the officers while according sanction to the merger.
They also said that they are not being given the permission for change of land use through which they can increase their economic avenues.
Jain assured them that he will take up their matter with the Administrator of Chandigarh as well as the Union Home Ministry and will send their memorandum to them shortly.
He assured them that it is the policy of the Narendra Modi Government to give relief to the small farmers and other weaker sections of society and therefore, he would urge the officers of the Chandigarh Administration to consider the demands of the villagers sympathetically and with more seriousness.
Saravshri Kuljeet Singh Sandhu, Sadhu Singh, Dalip Kumar as Ex-Sarpanchs, Joginder Singh, Gurpreet Singh Somal, Baba Gurdial Singh, Satinder Singh, Ex-Councillor, Satpal Gupta constituted the delegation that met Jain today.
