Without Comment: Publicity or Precaution

Chandigarh, August 7, 2020: Every day when we access the newspapers Invariably we find a large number of happenings, be it Vriksha Bhandhan, Ram Mandir, Corona Warriors etc.
After the Corona virus has spread its wings all over the tricity, even media has started picking up pictures of crowds here and there.
Normally people are found at the receiving end.
On a normal course, everyone likes to have a picture of the event while they stand and smile at the camera.
At such a time everything – even ‘mouth mask’ , ‘social distancing’ and other rules are compromised.
Just to mention few incidencts of today whiech were reported – a senior officer is seen violating the rules while standing with a girl child aged below 10 years; in another, a large number of people are seen in the Estate Office ground not caring for any rules in yet another picture a large number of parents are seen protesting at Sukhna Lake.
Without going into their cause, it is brought to the knowledge of all concerned authorities that in all three pictures the rules have been violated.
The lure for publicity is so big that we forget all precautions.
No doubt making the people aware and informing the press and keeping the records are essential for many people.
But during the COVID period it is the precautions which are more important and the attempts of publicity can wait.
May be the authorities will come forward and issue an advisory against the lure of publicity and request them all to remain cautious in future.
Yes, very tough future keeping in view the COVID spread.
